Unicycling around Tasmania to spread the word of finding inner peace

Introduction

Riding a unicycle past people brings out whatever is in the back of their mind- be it curiosity, wonder, jealeousy, vanity... I wanted to use this tool to bring out these deep emotions, and get people to think about peace whilst experiencing whatever it is thats going on within them. Tasmania is the perfect place for it. Not just because the locals are so friendly, but the holidayers are looking for something unique to open their minds.

The Vehicles and Pilots

3 unicyclists embarked on the journey: Scot Cooper (USA), Bronson Silva (USA), and myself (AUS). We also had Andy Cotter (USA) on a bicycle for support (he is a great unicyclist btw), with Debra Hamilton (AUS) and Keith McKay (AUS) driving for support.
We were riding "Coker" unicycles, which are the largest pneumaitc cycling tyre available- 36 inch diameter! Brakes helped reduce the leg strain downhill.

The Tour

The tour encompassed a complete ride around Tasmania- 1200km. I had set a hard schedule, and after only 3 days riding we were all starting to feel fatigued and sore. Riding along Tasmanias quieter roads was spectacular- a very strong sense of freedom was experienced by all riders.

We had a typical schedule of up, bfast, ride in about 1hr blocks, then stretch, eat, and off riding again. Many evening we were exhausted and simply retreated to bed, otherwise we would chat with others in the hostels, or explore the local area.

Finish!

After 1200 km of riding, I finally made it back into Devonport, where the whole journey had started almost a month beforehand. Bronson stopped riding at Strahan due to aches, and Scot waited an extra day in Strahan, so our schedules were out a little at the end.

Although physically I was still OK at this point, I was in need of a rest from the continual touring/different town each day/ different people lifestyle.

By the end, it was more the journey along the way that counted, instead of the actual completion of the ride.
